Senior Hutch Crawford has been chosen as STAR Student for CHS and has selected Mr. Steve Irwin (CHS 8th grade American History teacher) as STAR teacher. The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia’s outstanding high school seniors and the teachers who have been most influential in their academic development. To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score at a single testing on the three-part SAT taken by November of their senior year. They must also be in the top 10% or top 10 students in their class based on grade point average. Nominee’s SAT scores must be equal to or higher than the latest available national average on the math, critical reading, and writing sections.
Both Hutch and Mr. Irwin were honored with a luncheon hosted by the Rotary Club at the Northwest Georgia Trade Center. Hutch is a student described as having “character, respect, and heart”. After graduation, Hutch will attend college and will pursue a career as an officer in the United States Army.
